Michel BETTANE & Thierry DESSEAUVE reached a solid reputation as wine critics, after decades visiting thousands of estates within the French vineyards and especially participating to the editorship and renown of the Revue du Vins de France. They are now both independant and work for several French newspapers such as Le Monde or wine reviews in Great-Britain, Russia, Japan or China.  The 2008 Grand Guide des Vins de France, is a unique selection of the very best wines from France, following a tasting of more than 50.000 wines! Never done up to now....

Once again... Domaine SIPP-MACK  belongs to this very selective selection! It is the second time for SIPP-MACK to get a great review within two weeks from a reputed Guide. As the Revue du Vin de France Guide (see our August 29th Whats New ), Bettane & Desseauve point out the efforts of the estate in quality, added to their very interesting terroir...

Comment: The domain owns Grand Cru Osterberg in Ribeauville but primarily vineyards in Bergheim and Hunawihr (Grand Cru Rosacker). The wines, from calcareous soils, are pure with perfectly integrated residual sugars. The 2005s confirm the winery's recent progress with a grand homogeneity in their range of wines

* Pinot Gris Grand Cru Osterberg 2004 : (keep 2007 to 2015) A very mineral Pinot Gris, slightly sweet with all the finesse and purity of Osterberg. Long finish. 15/20

* Riesling Grand Cru Osterberg 2002 : (keep 2009 to 2020) A rich and concentrated Osterberg that's slightly sweet with notes of citrus peels that mask the finesse and purity of the terroir. A wine to age. 14/20

* Riesling Grand Cru Rosacker 2004 : (keep 2007 to 2020) Rose hips flowers and smoke aromas are followed by a mineral mouth that is straight and pure. Excellent ageing potential. 15/20

* Gewurztraminer Vieilles Vignes 2004 : (keep 2007 to 2015) A dense, ripe wine with intense floral notes on the nose that transform to sweet and spicy flavours in the mouth. 14/20

Pinot Blanc 2005 : (keep 2007 to 2010) A dense Pinot Blanc, delicate on the nose with an ample, pure mouth. 15/20

Pinot Gris Reserve 2005 : (keep 2007 to 2012) A clean, structured Pinot Gris with a fresh, floral nose and a balanced, half-sweet palate with a slight minerality. 14/20

Riesling Vieilles Vignes 2004 : (keep 2007 to 2015) A ripe, mineral Riesling. Extremely elegant with rich, savouory flavours. 14,5/20
