WINE SPECTATOR online dated May 12th 2008, just pointed out the MADIRAN appellation, region that we love and never stop to promote for 16 years, focusing the "excellent value of these big limited-production reds from South-West of France".

Once again... Domaine LABRANCHE LAFFONT from Christine DUPUY is rated # 2, the first one being only 1pt higher in rating but as usual, much more expensive....

Domaine LABRANCHE-LAFFONT Vieilles Vignes - Madiran - 2005: "Big, juicy red, dripping with dense flavors of dark plum, cherry, blackberry and spice. Well-etched finish features mineral and mocha notes. Drink now trhough 2014"  90pts - Kim MARCUS

90pts = Outstanding, a wine of superior charcater and style.

Kim MARCUS article extract about MADIRAN: Located in the southwest corner of France, Madiran is a small appellation, only 3,200 acres of vineyard in total, but it makes big red wines. The wines are based on the relatively unheralded Tannat grape, though grapes such as Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon can be included in the blend. The best wines are deeply colored with ripe dark fruit flavors backed by plenty of structure, and they will reward time in the cellar. When serving, they make a good match for roasted lamb or goose.
