In its July / August 2009 # 533 Issue, the REVUE du VIN de FRANCE, proposes an exceptional tasting of all the Languedoc Wines and Appellations.

For every estate selected, the jury (made of 12 Sommeliers, Oenologists & Journalists) tasted the 2006 Vintage and an older suggested by the producer. The classification is then made upon the average score of both Vintages tasted.

In this Top 100 classification and from our own Languedoc assortment - in addition to the amazing MAS BRUGUIERE Pic Saint-Loup we do suggest for years, we are very pleased (but not surprised), to find 2 Cuvées rated # 6 & 24th from a more recent Organic estate we absolutely love: Domaine BORIE la VITARELE in Saint-Chinian! Very expressive, colorful and tasty Saint-Chinian, belonging to our most successful new wines over the last year, especially with the Cuvée Les TERRES BLANCHES.

# 6 / 100 : Domaine BORIE LA VITARELE "Les Crès" - AOC Saint-Chinian http://www.franckssignaturewines.com/files/1248798694.doc

Syrah-Grenache blend from limestone-clay soil, the Cuvée "Les Crès" shows a strong character, firm, allying intensity and freshness.  A full and nicely structured 2006, rich and well made, with nices notes of flowers and small black fruits. In perfect shape, the 2001 illustrates its ageing potential, franc, velvety and rigorous, ending on irresistible truffle note.

2006 Vint. : 17/20 - 2001 Vint. : 17,5/20

# 24 / 100 : Domaine BORIE LA VITARELE "Les Schistes" - AOC Saint-Chinian http://www.franckssignaturewines.com/files/1248797876.doc

More mature and appealing than Les Crès, the Cuvée "Les Schistes" offers a more open profile. Once the little reduction and touch of alcohol is over in the nose, the 2006 shows mellowness and freshness up to its chalky final. Fleshy and going on black cherries aromas, the 2001 still has a nice sappy intensity and a firm final, very precise.

2006 Vint. : 16,5/20 - 2001 Vint. : 16/20

# 35 / 100 : MAS BRUGUIERE "La Grenadière"– AOC Coteaux du Languedoc Pic Saint-Loup

This estate improved a lot under Xavier BRUGUIERE management and the Grenadière - predominantly Syrah together with Grenache and Mourvèdre - does illustrate this evolution, towards more finesse and freshness. Until the superb 2007 is released, the 2006 is still a bit closed by the oak ageing. In a super shape, the 2001 gave us a fabulous experience about the floral intensity and natural elegance the best Pic Saint-Loup terroir can provide!

2006 Vint. : 15,5/20 - 2001 Vint. : 17/20
