Nobody would have bet such a quality for 2010, after the already legendary 2009, but here it is... and superlatives are missing after April barrel tasting:

"A modern Classic" for James MOLESWORTH, with superracy acidity, powerful yet fresh tannins and ripe muscular fruit reds. Wine Spectator June 30th 2011 issue.

"I have tasted enough wines from 2005, 2009 and 2010 to realize that these may be the three greatest Bordeaux vintages I have tasted in my career" Robert M.PARKER Jr. # 194 Issue Wine Advocate. "While massive and highly extracted, the 2010s are also fresh and incredibly pure. Moreover, they will enjoy astonishing longevity".

From our direct allocations:

Chateau CHARMAIL - Haut-Medoc Cru Bourgeois Superieur

"This impressive 2010 is one of the most powerful, rich wines I have ever tsted from this over-achieving estate in the northern sector of Medoc. A blend of 50% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and the rest petit Verdot that achieved 14.2% natural aclohol (a record at this property), it boasts an inky/blue color along with a sweet perfume of blueberry liqueur, acacia flowers, graphite, espresso roast and white chocolate. The complex aromatic are followed by a deep, medium to full-bodied wine with outstanding concentration and texture. It shoud drink well for a decade or more". 88-90pts WA # 194 Issue

Chateau CHEVAL BLANC - Saint-Emilion Grabd Cru Classe Cat. A

The 2010 Cheval Blanc contains 13.8% alcohol, which is very high for this estate, and has an unusually high percentage of Cabernet Franc in the final blend (56% versus 44% Merlot). Yields were tiny, adding to the richness and intensity already instilled by the drought of summer and resulting tiny berries. In the style of some great Cheval-Blanc of the late 1940s, this wine is rich, opulent, full bodied, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, as saturated purple in color as any Cheval-Blanc I have seen. Mulberries, black currants, fresh minerals, and tannins, good acidity and surprisingly modest pH, this should be an exceptionally long-lived wine, more backward and delineated than the fatter, more opulent 2009. Drink it over the next 30+ years." 96-98+pts WA # 194 Issue

"Lush, with heft but also poise to the boysenberry, plum and fig. Creamy finish of cocoa, violet, mint, anise and tobacco". 95-98pts WS - June 30th 2011 Issue

Chateau CLINET - Pomerol

"A spectacular success in this vintage, this blend of 85% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc achieved 15% natural alochol. Sadly, there are only 3.400 cs primarily because of the small Merlot crop (yields were only 29 hectoliters / Hectare). The wine's opaque purple color is followed by an extraordinary bouquet of boysenberries, blueberries, black currants, licorice, truffles and a hint of asphalt. The wine possesses great intensity, a multidimensional mouthfeel, stunning glycerin and richness, and wonderfull freshness as well as precision because of the vintage conditions. This massive Pomerol will age effortlessly for 30-35 years. Equaling what Clinet achieved in 1989 and 1990, it is the third successive great vintage for this estate." 95-98pts WA # 194 Issue

92-95pts WS - June 30th 2011 Issue

Chateau LAGRANGE - Saint-Julien Grand Cru Classe

"Lagrang'es relatively new winemaking team appears to have backed off the aggressive oak regime and the result is a wine with better overall balance. Still a backward, muscular/maculine style of St. Julien, it reveals abundant tannin along with a subtle hint of vanillin, intermixed with lead pencil shavings, white cholocate, black currant and cassis charcateristics. Although less expressive than some of its 2010 peers, it is a big, powerful, rich wine that needs a decade of cellaring. It should last for 30 years". 89-92pts WA # 194 Issue

90-93pts WS - June 30th 2011 Issue

Chateau SMITH-HAUT-LAFITTE - Red Pessac Leognan Grand Cru Classe

"A qualitative home run, right up there with the profound 2005 and more opulent 2009, Smith-Haut-Lafitte has turned in a remarkable performance in this vintage, but then again, so have many other chateaux. A blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, the wine has an inky/purple color and an extraordinary nose of graphite, blackberries, cassis, licorice, smoke, and camphor. The unbelievable skyscraper-like texture, stunning purity, and formidable intensity make for a remarkably rich, long, full-bodied wine that is classic Graves, but at the same time a staggering 2010. Anticipated maturity; 2015-2035+", 95-97pts WA # 194 Issue

93-96pts WS - June 30th 2011 Issue

Chateau SMITH-HAUT-LAFITTE - White Pessac Leognan Grand Cru Classe

"Another phenomenal wine from the Cathiards, this rich 2010 exhibits lemon custard, melon, tropical fruit and a touch of smoky oak. It should last 20+ years" 92-95pst WA # 194 Issue

"Caressing, with macadamia framing yellow plum, straw and verbana". 92-95pst WS - June 30th 2011 Issue
